Ryan O’Neill is the writer of The Weight of a Human Heart. He was once born in Glasgow in 1975 and has lived in Africa, Europe and Asia sooner than settling in Newcastle, Australia, along with his spouse and daughters. His fiction has seemed in The most sensible Australian tales, The Sleepers Almanac, Meanjin, New Australian tales, rainy Ink, Etchings and Westerly. His paintings has received the Hal Porter and Roland Robinson awards and been shortlisted for the Queensland Premier’s Steele Rudd Award and the Age Short-Story Prize. He teaches on the college of Newcastle.
